Irrigators Association (IA) Officers, you are the celebrity of the day,” according to Engr. Mario H. Sande, Regional Manager A, Negros Island Region Irrigation Office.
More than twenty years of contributing to the rice sufficiency of the City of Bago, Brgy. Ma-ao IA has formally received the project under the National Irrigation Administration – Negros Occidental Irrigation Management Office (NOIMO). The completed facilities includes the repair of Ma-ao IA building, construction of bench flume for Lateral A, repair of 9 drop structures, installation and fabrication of 2 steel gates, and protection and embankment works.
The turn-over ceremony was conducted last August 3, 2016 held at Brgy. Ma-ao, Bago, City, Negros Occidental. Being the contributors to the food security, the partnership between the local farmers and the agriculture sector through NIA-NIRIO and the local government of Bago, can greatly help in increasing its capacity to sustain the campaign on rice-self-sufficiency program, stressed by Hon. Nicholas M. Yulo, Mayor, Bago City.
Engr. Sande highlighted that the ceremony is a symbol of success and everyone are challenge to take on the responsibility in maintaining the facilities for the next generation. He also added that, Brgy. Ma-ao already has an allocated budget on FY 2017 for approval on both the local and national government.
Indeed, this event is an echo of progress to the agricultural sector under NIRIO-NOIMO.
